Ajinkya Rahane, Rachin Ravindra Take Superb Relay Catch To Dismiss Virat Kohli For 21 During CSK vs RCB

In the clash between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore, fielders Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra showcased a moment of brilliance, resulting in the dismissal of none other than Virat Kohli during Match 1 of the IPL 2024 on Friday.

CSK pacer Mustafizur Rahman claimed his third victim in the 12th over when he delivered a short ball which Kohli hooked towards deep mid-wicket after shuffling across his stumps.

The slower pace of the ball made it challenging for Kohli to time his shot over the ropes. Instead, the ball popped up towards Rahane as Kohli mistimed his stroke.

Rahane, sprinting to his right, executed a sharp sliding catch, but his momentum carried him towards the boundary ropes.

Realising he wouldn't halt in time, Rahane swiftly threw the ball towards debutant Ravindra, who was converging from the opposite direction.

Ravindra completed the catch smoothly, although it was referred to the TV umpire upstairs, who confirmed the dismissal in favour of the fielding team, sending Kohli back to the pavilion.

Kohli Reaches Significant Milestone Before Early Exit

In his first match since January this year, Kohli appeared active at the crease before his innings concluded at 21 off 20 balls.

During his innings, he also reached the milestone of 12,000 T20 runs, becoming the first Indian and the sixth batsman overall to achieve this feat.

CSK Dominates RCB Once Again

Mustafizur further bolstered his wicket tally by dismissing Cameron Green (18) just two balls after removing Kohli.

By the 12th over, the Bangladesh pacer had claimed four wickets, reducing RCB to 78 for 5, after CSK lost the toss and were asked to bowl first by Faf du Plessis. Notably, RCB hasn't managed to defeat CSK in Chennai since IPL 2009.
